Why choose us ... What is the difference?

l All of our sites are custom designed specifically for each client. We do not plug your information into pre-designed templates. Your site will embody your individual vision and style. The "look and feel" of your site is designed around your specific taste in accordance to your instructions to our design team. Our Design Portfolio Samples are intended ONLY for the purpose of presenting you with ideas to assist you in selecting a "style" that may appeal to your personal taste. PLEASE DO NOT USE OUR SAMPLES AS A DETERMINING FACTOR IN OUR ABILITY TO DESIGN A SITE THAT SUITS YOUR TASTE. Remember that YOU control the "look & feel" of your site. We provide you with the professional design staff capable of creating or recreating ANY site.

l Our prices include everything required to build and activate your site on the World Wide Web. There are no hidden charges or additional fees required. What we quote up front is the total cost for the project you specify - Period.

l You will be working one-on-one with your own designer. Our sites are not mass - produced. You and your designer will work together to develop your site just the way you want it to be.

l You own your site from day one. It is your property. You do not have to sign a contract of any kind. Your payment is your guarantee to us that you are serious, and upon request we offer you a written service agreement spelling out in detail our commitments to you.

l Our hosting and maintenance fees are among the lowest in the industry. We don't charge you a low up-front cost and then try to make up the difference by locking you into a one year contract with higher monthly fees. Our hosting fees also include maintenance time FREE OF CHARGE which you can use to have us update text, add/remove images, etc. This is a minimum value of $100 per hour and you won't find many (if any) other firms offering it!

l We aim for a HIGHER STANDARD of web design. This is not just a catchy phrase. Most companies design sites to fit a standard resolution 800 x 600 computer monitor. ALL of the sites we design are formatted to display beautifully in both a standard 800 x 600 monitor AND a HIGHER RESOLUTION 1024 x 768 monitor. There is a very noticeable difference when your target audience visits your site. You can easily notice this difference by viewing almost any site on the web on a 1024 x 768 monitor. You will see a large amount of empty space surrounding the site's content.

l We offer extremely high quality design services at a very affordable price. Our lead designer has over 30 years of experience in graphic design industry, and all design projects go through his strict quality control process.

How do I make an apples-to-apples comparison of design companies?

l When you "shop around", as many people do, you need to ask yourself if the web design company offers a great value or, rather, a "perceived value". Our design packages are ALL-IN-ONE, meaning we offer everything needed to build your site from start to finish. Our closest competitors charge individual and per page fees for most items such as CGI scripts, animated GIFs, WAV files, domain name registration/transfer and hosting. We never ask you to sign lengthy hosting contracts. Any individual or business about to develop a website needs to take these factors into account and calculate the ACTUAL COST. Make your comparisons via a Item-to-Item evaluation and you should be able to clearly identify the differances between companies ... see our All Package Features link for more details.

l What's more, some companies only allow you to use pre-designed web page templates. Our Design Portfolio offers samples that are intended to be used as a tool to assist you in determining a particular style that you may like. All of the sites we design are COMPLETELY CUSTOMIZABLE. You are in control.

l And finally, what are the rates for maintenance on a month-to-month basis? Some companies charge outrageous monthly fees for maintenance and hosting. An equally priced website may actually cost you hundreds or possibly thousands of dollars more per year. After calculating one year's worth of fees, is it really a good deal?

Is site storage space important?

Not Usually. Some companies hype the fact that you have 20 megs or 100 megs of storage space as a sales point. It's actually irrelevant in most cases. The average web site will only occupy 5 to 10 megabytes of server space. Even an extremely large web site will rarely require the amount of space that is commonly hyped as a sales feature by many design and hosting firms. Our policy is: whatever storage space your site requires (within reasonable intent) is included in the package price. We have no pre-set limits. If your specific requirements should be of concern, we will make you aware of any additional storage fees in advance of starting work on your development.

What are "hosting fees"?

In order for people to see your site on the internet, it will have to be placed on a server. A server is a computer that is specifically configured to share information (your web pages) with anyone who wants to view them on the internet. Our servers provide state-of-the-art high speed connections that will allow visitors to download your site as quickly as possible. Your hosting fees are basically a leasing fee for "renting" space on our servers. Our hosting fees are among the lowest in the industry with the added benefit of FREE Maintenance included at the same rates that most other hosting companies charge without maintenance.

Can another company host my site?

It depends on what type of site you have. If it uses a shopping cart (E-Commerce) or a database that is PHP/MySQL driven, (membership sites, etc.) then you can only host it with companies that have the same software components or configurations installed on their servers. If you need E-Commerce or a database for your site, you will likely save a great deal of expense if you have the same company design and host your site.

If we design your site without E-Commerce or a database, then you can host it with any company you like. However, our fees are comparable to most other hosting companies, AND we include FREE Maintenance. This extra feature saves you an average of $100.00 per hour every time you need changes made to your site. All of our GoSites or GoCarts Design Packages come with 5 Hours per Year of Free Maintenance time. Please note that all free maintenance hours are non-transferable and cannot be carried over into alternate years.

What is included in "free maintenance"?

Anything you need changed on the site. We will spend up to the amount of time included in your package to make any changes you desire, when ever need. This could be anything from simple text or image changes to removing/adding pages. Your FREE time is calculated on an on-going basis over the course of your paid hosting interval and when used you are then offered discounted rates to accomodate any request beyond the free time alotted.

How long will it take to complete my site?

While some sites can be completed in as little as 7-10 business days, most projects are developed very carefully and NOT RUSHED in order to insure accuracy and client satisfaction with each step of the development. The sooner you get your project scheduled with us, the sooner we will be able to begin the various step-by-step production phases. You do NOT need to have all of your content prepared to begin your project.

The first phase of your project involves conceptual work such as the enhancement or originating of your company identity, your logo, and the general look and feel of your home page. The second phase includes more in depth functionality planning and construction of the framework and navigation elements of the home page. It is not until BOTH of these phases have been completed that we will ask you to start submitting content for the remaining pages. The preliminary phases can sometimes take considerable time to develop depending on the overall complexity of your project and our current design schedules. Generally we practice a "first-come, first-serve" policy. Therefore, WE SUGGEST THAT YOU MAKE YOUR DECISION TO MOVE FORWARD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT ALL THE "LITTLE" DETAILS. We will be here to guide, suggest and assist you each step of the way. We pride ourselves in making the entire process as easy and affordable as possible. PLEASE DON'T SWEAT THE DETAILS ... that's what we're here for!

As a general rule you should plan a minimum of 2 to 4 weeks for any project unless you have made special pre-approved arrangements with our design staff. More time should be allowed for E-commerce, Shopping Cart sites, and complex Database projects, as they require more in-depth programming. When we assess your project before starting Phase 1 and list all the design elements we'll be doing for you, we can then give you a good idea exactly how long it will take to complete your specific project.

What happens if I want to UPGRADE my Design Package?

You simply pay the difference in the cost of the upgrade. Your PAID IN VALUE REMAINS TRUE FOR THE LIFE OF YOUR ACCOUNT. For example, if the Design Package you currently have costs $1499 and you are upgrading to a package that costs $2499, you pay only the $1000 difference.

What is involved in developing ECommerce sites?

The world wide web can be a very powerul sales tool ... when used properly, E-Commerce can provide a wealth of potential results to any business! Unfortunately, way too many individuals or companies get started out on the wrong foot and are left with poor and unsatisfactory results that could have been avoided. Always work with proven professionals and consider these very important TRUTHS about the process before you begin.

1) E-Commerce Development Is A Co-Operative Effort. NO single company can provide you with ALL of the independent elements that are needed to get started. The process requires a close collaboration of you, your Web Designer, your Gateway Provider, your Merchant Account Provider and your Bank. We will ASSIST, SUGGEST and DIRECT you properly every step of the way in establishing reliable services for each of these required elements at the appropriate time. BEWARE of any company that claims that they can "handle" ALL of these services for you; there are security risks involved with providing one company the access to ALL of your sensitive information, plus they would actually have to be a bank to "cover everything". You will have to do some of the work such as comparing rates from different merchant providers, etc... after all, it is YOUR bank account and YOUR merchant account. For your security, the responsible account holder is the ONLY person that these service providers will work with.

2) Be Properly Prepared BEFORE Spending a Dime. Gather all the facts and details about a company or resource before spending a dime ... especially on items such as: Merchant Account fees (application fees, monthly fees, per transaction fees, etc.), Gateway fees, Shopping Carts, Domain Registrants, Hosting Fees, etc. Doing careful research up front may save you a small fortune in site development or "redevelopment" fees due to common incompatibility issues.

3) Watch Out For The Scams. Unfortunately the industry is flooded with completely legal companies that are in the business of trying to get uneducated individuals and companies to "buy into" programs and E-Commerce Pyramids that are nothing but legal scams offering unrealistic "get-rich" schemes. Like any other honest business, your success with E-Commerce will depend solely on traditional, time proven marketing methods and your own willingness to put forth the efforts and expenses required to make your venture into E-Commerce a success.

What types of database features do you offer?

The secure database features most clients need are already included in a websites' shopping cart software. Sites that require more specialized databases are handled on a case by case basis, usually using PHP/MySQL, ASP or ColdFusion programming code and further research is done to determine the best possible solution. Some examples of databases we have developed are a dating site (sorting through people by height, age, hair color, etc.) and a membership driven medical database (sorting through stored medical data by person, by medication, etc.). Customized databases are an add-on feature and are not reflected in the prices of our ALL-IN-ONE design packages. These types of productions can vary in cost from less than $1000 to over $10,000.00, based on a client's individual needs. Please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-800-858-6599 if you have questions about customized databases.

Are "traffic limits" & bandwidth important?

Yes, IF a hosting company has definite limits on either one in their hosting services. WE DO NOT. Our servers will make your site available to your clients 24/7 with no limits on the amount of bandwidth allowed. We would never restrict the number of "hits" your site will encounter, or the amount of data your users choose to download from your site. Should bandwidth become an issue due to site growth and popularity, we would simply move your site to a more appropriate server. All sites are regularly monitored and maintained 24/7 by a staff of highly qualified technical professionals to ensure your that your site is constantly available to any user anywhere in the world. Should a bandwidth concern ever arise, we will know about it quickly and promptly take any appropriate action required.

Do you submit my site to search engines?

It's a common myth that submitting your site is all that's required to appear on page 1 or 2 in a Google search. Actually, your site will be analyzed automatically by all the major search engines whether you submit it or not. They constantly look for all new sites that come online to add to their database, and submitting the site only slightly accelerates that process. Google currently has over 8 billion web pages in its database and the vast majority of those sites were not submitted. Search engines have software called "spiders" that "crawl" (analyze) all new sites. The spider is looking for repetitions of words or phrases in certain places in the programming code of your website pages, or what they call "relevance". If it detects relevance for certain words or phrases, it ranks your site against all other sites that also focus on those words and phrases. Your site is then assigned a rank in the engine's database and will appear in the appropriate position when someone searches using that phrase. If you submit a site that has not been prepared specifically for the "spiders", you will probably get ranked very poorly - if at all.

The process of defining the best keyword phrases and placing them in the best possible places in your website's programming code is called site optimization or SEO. Optimization is done only after a website is completely finished and "live" on the world wide web. Starting with the ECOMM II, our higher-end packages include this service. For our smaller packages, this is a separate process from the website design itself and is not included. We provide this as an extra service starting at $449.00 for a one-time optimization and submission. We have many sites that are now getting page 1 or page 2 presence on Yahoo, Google, MSN and many other engines with just this basic one-time service.

For clients that have serious competition in their industry and want to be sure that they maintain their high ranking no matter what their new or existing competition does, we offer SEO packages that include much more agressive programming tags and a weekly or monthly re-evaluation of their ranking. If ranking slips, code is changed or enhanced to restore the high ranking. These SEO packages start at an initial fee of $849.00 with an $80.00 monthly fee for rank monitoring and maintenance.

How much creative input do I have in my site's design?

You can have as little or as much involvement as you feel comfortable with. Some of our clients choose to sit back and let our design team have full reign over the creative "look and feel" of their website, while others choose to be more involved and have very specific requirements that must be met. The designer that is assigned to your project will contact you personally to discuss the ideas that you have and will work one-on-one with you to guarantee that you are satisfied with the results.

Can I make simple changes to my site if I want to?

Yes. We will provide the training that allows you to modify your site anytime you desire. You may need to have two kinds of software (depending on the Code used for your specific development): If your site utilized PHP/MySQL for the original development, REMOTE Administrative features are include as a standard interface. For HTML Only sites, you will need FTP software to download and upload your files to the server, and an HTML editor like Dreamweaver to make the actual changes. We recommend that you plan on making only simple changes like text edits or adding/removing images. More complex things should be left to us, which is why we include maintenance time in all of our hosting plans. All we ask is that the person we grant FTP access to is a qualified individual that is trained to perform the kind of maintenance your site normally needs. We will gladly spend time with you to ensure that your internal maintenance personnel are well versed in the technical aspects required to easily and correctly perform maintenance to your site.

Is FLASH something I want in my site?

Flash produces the intense visual effects and interactivity that you see on many high-end websites. You can apply effects to text, images, and graphics, synch them to a sound file in real time, and even create your own graphics (the Bush - Kerry "cartoons" by JibJab that were all over the internet lately are actually Flash presentations). The best part is that you can produce these effects with files that are MUCH smaller than if you did the same effects in HTML or PHP, meaning that your pages will load faster. The catch is that Flash requires much more labor than HTML or PHP programming, so most high-end Flash productions can be very costly to produce. However, if your target market is primarily younger, tech savvy people then Flash may be a good idea if you have the budget. A basic rule of thumb: unless it's a template design (there are lots of Flash website templates for sale on the web), plan on about three to four times the budget for a Flash website vs. an HTML site with the same number of pages, etc.

We can do both template Flash designs and completely custom Flash developments. Flash is not included in our All-In-One packages and would be quoted separately. For pricing, the best thing is to call and discuss your project with us. We also offer comparable universally acceptable alternatives, such as animated GIF's, WAV Sound and MP3 files. Properly used, these alternatives often achieve the same desired results without the restrictions or costs associated with Flash productions.

NOTE: Keep in mind that some Internet users do not have the Flash plug-in included in their browser. If they don't and you have Flash programming in your site, they will not be able to view the Flash elements unless they take the time to download the required Flash Player plug-in. On a dial-up connection this will take about 15 minutes plus the installation time and many visitors will just choose not to bother. Any Browser software versions 5.0 or higher typically have already incorporated the required Flash Plug-Ins directly into the software .. so eventually in time FLASH will be 100% safe to use, but there are always those few that will use the same browser software for many, many years. Persons using browser vesions below 5.0 may be required to install plug-ins.
